2 Encourage students to cooperate with each other-- Padlet!

In this class, our group chose the Padlet. I think it is a very efficient tool for English teachers and learners.

Padlet is an online collaborative page, it  allows students to upload various texts  and pictures, they can also upload some links. It is a shared page, everyone can add their own opinion on it.

We used the Padlet to discuss the Learning Technologies in the ELT Classroom,  each part of the map is typed by our group mates.

I think the most significant advantage of this tool is that it is logically clear and it can updae everyone's viewpoints in real time. On the map, you can see who uploaded these ideas. If you are finding some similar tools, especially those available in China, I will recommend you the Xmind.

Here is a map I created for my written discourse class.

You can see the clear classification and some pictures in it,  and it is easy to show the connection between different parts of them. By the way, you can add a comment under every item.

Let's continue to talk about the Padlet. I think the most useful advantage of it is- supports language learners to show their ideas without pressure. Everyone should cooperate with others, they need to use the tool to brainstorm and generate the final paperwork. After completing the task, everyone can see the feedback from the teacher or classmates, it is an interactive and collaborative way to learning English.

This tool is suitable for college students. When conducting group discussions, it can collect each person's brainstorming session. In this way, each person can receive a relatively balanced task allocation. After the data collection , this map can be presented as an outcome to other groups. It is very well-organized and convenient for presenting the discussion results of the group.

About its limitations, after our tests, we found that the real-time update of the Padlet is sometimes delayed, you may notice that two people edit the same text box simultaneously. However, in general, the impact is not significant. Besides, some students may think that they only need to express their own opinions without interaction and participation in comments, so teachers should lead them to leave feedback with each other.
